the meanings of 'retained, residual, remaining'
残余奥氏体: retained austenite残余应力: resudual tress, or remaining stress

During the metal processing process ,because ofuneven stress field, strain field, temperature field and Inhomogeneity of microstructure,the stress preservedin the deformed body after deformationis called residual stress .
Rresidual austenite in the current ambient temperature after austenite occurred phase transition during cooling process is called retained austenite.
And then , would you understandthe difference of they? Normally you can just understand from the literal meaning.
Residual means what we don't expect to get, while retained means what weneed. But the two don't intend what we control on purpose.
You can just use the english version, chinese maybe not express so accurately. Thanks for the two kind guys!
上尉连长, I know the definitions, i just wan to know the meanings ofwords 'retained, residual, remaining', the the third guy dec.liu should make me more clear. Many experenced master in this bbs all speak Chinese only, such a English version post only will answered by some Pre-Engineer in WOFE company, if you want a correct answer, write with Chinese.
