[Discussion] SAT

Dear All

Would you like to introduce your SAT? What's the condition for SAT? Especially for the Gas furnaces?

Since generally it is not stable for gas furnaces even during the soaking time. Then how do your perform the SAT?

According to the AMS-2750, 3 ways could be used to perform SAT.
1.  Conventional SAT, this requirement involves temperature comparison between equipment temperature measurement system and calibration system. For gas furnace,to eliminate the effect of gas flow on temperature sensor, we recommended use Double-element thermocouple(双芯热电偶), of which one can be used as the equipment sensor and the other as test sensor. However, there are additional requirement for the type of the thermocouples used.

2. Alternate SAT. this method involves calibrate the equipment sensor and remain system(the combination of connector, wire, instrument) individually and calculate the SAT error algebraically. This method do not requires a real ramp up on furnace but have special requirement on the replacement of sensors.

3. SAT Waiver. We do not recommend this method.

Thanks very much for your experienced explanation.

I am very interested in the method 1 you introduced and we do have the problem that didn't find a better way to eliminate the effect of gas flow on temperature sensor. Because of this impact , we can't get stable readings even during soaking time. In the end we shut off all the burners but you know the temperature will drop down.

Is your furnace heated by open flame directly?

If you interete in the method 1 ,espicial the Double-element thermocouple。
Perform an SAT folllowing AMS2750e 3.4.6.If you use the Double-element thermocouple,it means resident SAT thermocouple.
See 3.4.5.2.1,it  hase limitation that resident SAT sensor type shall be different from the senor be tested.
Both type N sensor can not be allowed on figure 5.

For fas furnace SAT test, it shall also be stable if you follow the specification. Or you shall ask some expert to check the cycle system.

Our furnace is 40m long and 3m wide and 3m high. For SAT test, all the 48 control thermocouples are qualified.

According to the CQI-9 , our equipment needs to be tested SAT, and the gas furnace test frequency is once every two weeks.
Due to the particularity of the atmosphere furnace, ensuring the accuracy of the temperature control, the thermocouple in the furnace must be a Double-element thermocouple;
At present, the stability of our equipment in the SAT test is still possible.
