Shanghai Heat Treatment/Shanghai, China(http://www.shrcl.com). European and North American commercial heat treaters would be absolutely stunned by the and profit margins of commercial heat treaters in China. Europeans and North Americans both have gotten used to a mature industry with relatively modest growth and small margins over the past decade: compare this with the booming economy in China which has dragged heat treaters along with it. Shanghai Heat Treatment is probably an extreme example of the growth in commercial heat treating but it does give you a good idea. Founded in 1956 the company has an impressive history including an award from the Chinese government in 1979 for their work in the aerospace industry. The company has 4 plants in 3 provinces with a total of over 200 employees which includes a new facility in Taiyuan city in Shanxi province which will be opening shortly. In the photos below we are looking at the largest operation which was built in 2006. This location has over 100 employees and offers a wide variety of processing including their mainstay process-Induction (up to 7' diameter parts), complimented by batch IQ furnaces, pit furnaces (up to 8' diameter) and plasma nitriding. As far as relative size goes I would have to believe that Shanghai Heat Treatment is one of the largest commercials in China but as far as I have been able to find out there is no such thing as a "Top 10" list of commercial heat treaters for China. Growth for the company over the years has been tremendous with sales growing over 400% in just the past few years. The main reason? The fellow in one of the pictures below, Mr. Kent Zuo, CEO.
