About the contents of the book

The book starts with chapters on basic issues:
• Fatigue as a phenomenon occurring in the material (Chapter 2).
• Because stress concentrations in a structure are of paramount importance for fatigue, stress distributions around notches and stress concentration factors (Kt ) are discussed in Chapter 3.
• Residual stresses can have a significant effect on fatigue. A special chapter is presented on these stresses (Chapter 4).
• After fatigue cracks have been nucleated, the stress intensity factor (K) is a controlling parameter for the severity of the stress distribution around the crack tip and fatigue crack growth. The concept of the stress intensity factor is discussed in Chapter 5.
• Fatigue properties, including the fatigue limit, S-N curves, fatigue diagrams, and also fatigue crack growth are discussed in Chapters 6 to 8. Some prediction problems are discussed in these chapters. 本帖最后由 wangqinghua196 于 2009-10-31 20:38 编辑
