Yes, you are right. Carbon atoms gather at twin boundary to form carbide, so there is always a carbide-free zone/band (PFZ) beside twin carbide, and boundary carbide as well. 本帖最后由 leomet 于 2016-8-13 15:12 编辑
該試樣繼續浸蝕下去, 基地腐蝕更深, 碳化物突出更高, 對焦效果就不好了.
Note that the twin carbide platessticking out of the matrix more.
They act as blade and cut open the matrix of the steel.

Tooling failed in a fewweeks. So, customer sent it back for complaint.

Microstructureof this tooling.
Lots and lots of twin and grain boundary carbides which are
very detrimental to the toughness of any tool steel. These carbides appeared
after billet forging. But the problem originated from a poor diffusion annealing, or, soaking
of the ingot.
