On heating,
pearlite → austenite ; ferrite enveloping graphite nodules → austenite, carbon diffuses into it.
On quenching,
these austenite colonies → martensite.That's it, and that's all.

Poor tinting results.
For me, a successful tinting does not come by easily.
It's lot of trial-and-errors.

You do not notice these carbide particles when ferrite is white in color.
When you tint ferrite brown yellow or darker colors, they stand out.
Can you guys see the carbide particles in this photo?

吴老师你好，铁素体，碳化物从形态上应该是有区别的，我们生产的QT700-2组织中也纯在两种组织，碳化物要求小于1.5%，如有争论时，采用20%过硫酸氨腐蚀就很清楚鉴别出来，但这种分散的碳化物还是有点怀疑。能否证明一下？谢谢！

1. Particles in the matrix of ferrite:I can not think of any phase else but carbide. Do they looks like stains? Some may, but not all of them. Please note that thisis notan as-cast specimen,as you may always see at your work. It is an induction hardened specimen. They are nothing more than proeutectoid cementiteprecipitated prior to the formation of martensiteon continous cooling.

Sorry, I do not have this etchant of 20%过硫酸氨.

As a matter of fact, this is the very first time I see these carbide particles too. Without color tinting, I would nevernotice its existence as most of you do.

It seems to me that you are working in an iron foundry. I make my living in this industry too. You can see my blog in Taiwan Yahoo, searching with LeoMet. There is a lot of info you might find useful. But do not ask questions, because I do not answer questions openly.
