25Cr Alloyed cast iron.

~778; ~852 As-quenched : Untempered martensite matrix is difficult to
etch / tint and appears brighter than the matrix that is tempered .

~780 Tempered: matrix easy to etch / tint, so the matrix appears to be darker.
Also, A large number of carbide particles precipitated from matrix.

Photos you seldom see.
AISI 4140, cold forged part.
Recrystalized at ~600C for 30+ min
Note the subgrains in big grains.

为什么有时候境界上析出的白色物质这张上是铁素体，而前面有张照片上说是渗碳体？

Art work from one of the best metallurgists from Taiwan.

Ductile Iron Austempered at 350C
Today, 12/31, the last day of 2010, obtained by chance, this wonderful tinting reveals details of graphite nodules.
These graphite nodules look somewhat like the cross section of "Swiss rolls", don't they? 瑞士卷
I am pretty much satisfied with these photos and hope you guys enjoy seeing these photos as well.

~188, ~190 Carbide tinted.
~216, ~218, Ferrite tinted, carbide remained white.
